How to Make an Adorable DIY Baby Sock Bouquet Gift

a DIY baby sock bouquet made by the Savvy Swarey as a baby shower gift

You’ve probably seen (or even given) a diaper cake before… but let’s be honest, it’s been done a million times. If you’re looking for a baby shower gift idea that feels fresh, thoughtful, and a little more Pinterest-worthy, I’ve got you. Enter: the DIY baby sock bouquet.

I made one of these for my cousin’s baby shower, and she loved it so much she’s keeping it in the nursery as décor—and maybe as backup socks when laundry day sneaks up! The best part? It’s budget-friendly, easy to make, and such a fun surprise alongside a gift card or something from the registry.

Whether you’re gifting it on its own or as an add-on to a big-ticket item, this is the type of gift that will make everyone at the shower ask: “Wait, how did you make that?!”

What You’ll Need for your DIY Baby Sock Bouquet

Here are the simple supplies to pull together your bouquet (I’ve linked the ones I used so you can grab them too):

Step-by-Step: How to Make a DIY Baby Sock Bouquet

step by step visuals of how to DIY a baby sock bouquet

1. Roll the Sock “Flower”

Take one baby sock and roll it tightly. Then, wrap a second sock around it until you reach the end. Open up the end of the outer sock using your thumb and forefinger, then pull it over the rolled part. Flip it around and—voilà—you should see a rose shape! (If it looks a little off, just “schoozh” the fabric outward until it resembles a flower.)

2. Secure the Bloom

Use a clear hairband around the base of the rolled sock to keep it from unraveling.

3. Add the Stem

Insert a wood skewer into the bottom fold of the sock flower. Secure it again with a clear hairband where the sock meets the skewer.

4. Repeat Until You Have a Full Bouquet

Keep rolling socks until you’ve used them all. A full bouquet usually looks best with 6–12 sock flowers, depending on how big you want it.

5. Wrap It Like a Real Bouquet

Take two sheets of tissue paper and fold each diagonally to create a crown shape. Overlap them, then place your sock flowers in the center. Wrap one side over the stems and tape, then wrap the other side and secure. Finish by tying a ribbon around the middle in a bow.

6. Present It

You can lay the bouquet on top of another gift (like I did with a pack-and-play from the registry), tuck it into a small basket, or gift it on its own with a cute card or gift card tucked in.
