What You’ll Need:

Though I’ve linked to budget-friendly Amazon finds below, you can also grab versions of all of these supplies at your local Dollar Tree for an extra-affordable DIY Truth or Dare Jenga Game!

1. A Jenga game: You can grab this full-size version on Amazon, or for a budget-friendly mini version, head to Dollar Tree. (That’s what I used! The blocks are smaller and slightly rougher but still work perfectly.)

2. Acrylic paint (optional): Choose two colors—one for truths and one for dares. I used pink and red to match the Galentine’s theme. Skip this step if you prefer the natural wood look!

3. Fine-tip pens: I used a black pen (on the pink pieces) and a metallic silver paint pen (for the red pieces), but this black and white paint pen combo on Amazon would be perfect (for just $5!)

4. Clear nail polish: To seal and smooth the blocks for easy sliding. (This one on Amazon is just $1.29!) Depending on the number of coats you need, I’d grab two to be safe!

Depending on whether you get your supplies on Amazon, or Dollar Tree, this project can be made for $10 – $25! Bonus if you’ve already got some of these supplies at home!

DIY Truth or Dare Jenga Game Instructions:

Step 1: Get Your Jenga Blocks

Start by purchasing a Jenga game. If you want a more budget-friendly option or a mini version of the game, head to Dollar Tree. (I personally used the mini version, and it worked perfectly!)

Step 2: Paint the Jenga Blocks (Optional)

For a fun, festive look, (highly recommend if you’re planning a themed party!) paint your Jenga blocks with acrylic paint. If you prefer a more natural look, skip the painting and move on to the next step. This will save time and simplify the project.

  • Choose two colors; use one color for truth blocks and the other for dares. (I chose pink and red to stick with the Galentine’s Day party theme, but feel free to use any two colors you like that fit your party vibe! )
  • Let the blocks dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Step 3: Write the Truths and Dares

Grab your fine-tip pens and start writing a truth or dare on each block. If you’re using two colors, be consistent—truths on one color and dares on the other.

For inspiration, here’s a comprehensive list of truth and dare ideas for your Jenga game (feel free to mix and match or come up with your own to fit your crowd!):

Truth Ideas:

  • Most embarrassing text?
  • First celeb crush?
  • Worst thing for love?
  • Swap lives with someone here?
  • Worst fashion trend you tried?
  • Last Google search?
  • Ever ghosted someone? Why?
  • Marry one ex—who?
  • Most irrational fear?
  • Secret talent?
  • Who’s your weirdest crush?
  • Worst date ever?
  • What’s your guilty pleasure?
  • Most awkward thing you’ve said on a date?
  • Last person you stalked on social media?
  • Biggest lie you’ve ever told?
  • Most embarrassing nickname?
  • Worst haircut you’ve ever had?
  • Funniest thing you’ve overheard?

Step 4: Seal the Blocks

To keep your painted blocks smooth and easy to slide, finish them with a coat of clear nail polish. This step is crucial if you’ve painted the blocks, as the paint can make them sticky.

One coat is OK if you’re in a time crunch, but two coats gave my blocks a sleek, easy-to-slide finish!

Step 5: Your DIY Truth or Dare Jenga Game is Ready!

That’s it—your custom DIY Truth or Dare Jenga game is ready to see some action!

Stack the blocks like a normal Jenga game, and let your friends take turns pulling blocks. If they pull a truth, they answer the question. If they pull a dare, they’ll need to complete the challenge.

This easy DIY party game is a fantastic addition to any girly gathering and perfect for breaking the ice, sharing laughs, and making memories.
