Red, White, and Blue Table Decorations

Let’s start with the table, the centerpiece of any party. Because, let’s face it… food. Begin by covering your tables with crisp white tablecloths to create a clean canvas for your red white and blue table decorations. Next, create your centerpieces.

Easy Patriotic DIY Centerpiece

Inspired by the easy patriotic table decor tutorial by Today’s Creative Life, arrange a cluster of mason jars filled with white flowers as the focal point. To give it that patriotic flair, add red and blue food coloring to your water. For an added touch of patriotism, incorporate mini American Flags into your flower arrangements. This combination is perfect for a sophisticated red white and blue party or backyard fourth of July barbeque.

Vintage Patriotic Centerpiece

Another easy patriotic centerpiece DIY is to use a red, white or blue vessel you already have lying around the house. Whether that’s a cookie jar (like in this example from the Fashionable Hostess), a watering can, or even a vintage canister, simply add vibrant red, white and blue floral and a mini American Flag. You can purchase these at any Dollar Store. Simple, stunning, yet savvy.

Red, White, and Blue Table Settings

OK, next are your table settings. A simple and budget friendly red white and blue table decor idea draws inspiration from One Stylish Party and their fabulous Fourth of July table. To complement the patriotic centerpieces you DIYed, incorporate a patterned blue napkin and charger into your place settings. Add a pop of red by adding a red flower tied with twine. This curated table setting will bring your red white and blue party theme beautifully to life where everyone gathers.

Another idea that I think is just genius is using star shaped cookie cutters as your napkin holders, a patriotic table setting idea shared on Country Living. You can buy these new, or find these secondhand for a more vintage, rustic aesthetic.

DIY Red, White, and Blue Garland

Next, let’s talk about garlands, the ultimate party accessory. To infuse your space with color and movement, incorporate a charming red white and blue ribbon garland inspired by Think.Make.Share. Gather an assortment of red, white, and blue ribbons in various patterns and widths. Cut them into varying lengths, ensuring they can drape like a graceful swan (kidding, but not… you don’t want any fabric that’s too rigid for your garland).

Following the instructions from this DIY project, tie the ribbons onto a length of twine or string, alternating colors and patterns. Hang the garland across a doorway, window, or along an outdoor fence to add a whimsical touch to your red white and blue party vibe.

Red, White, and Blue Party Buffet Styling

Next, let’s take inspiration from Country Living for our red white and blue party buffet styling

One of my favorite DIY ideas to elevate your Fourth of July or Memorial Day buffet, is to embellish a metal or aluminum bucket for a patriotic drink station. Whether you pick one up at a garage sale, or purchase one new, give it some patriotic pizazz.

All you need is a star stencil – either premade, or cut your own out of thick craft paper – white acrylic paint, and a paintbrush. Add an arrangement of stars to the outside of your container, and voila! Patriotic party perfection. Add some ice, some drinks, and you’re ready to go.

Another idea I just love to bring that red, white and blue theme to life is to simply add some patriotic embellishments to your existing serving ware. A perfect example is shown here by Peach and Valley Designs. Simple affix an American Flag scarf or bandana to a tiered dessert display. You can also keep your buffet simply styled and let your food and drinks do the work by incorporating red, white, and blue throughout.

Rustic American Flag Backdrop

Looking for something that makes a statement? Add a whimsical boho touch to your celebration with a DIY American rag flag – the perfect backdrop for your red white and blue party theme. Using simple materials, you can easily recreate this statement decoration. You just need some fabric scraps or ribbon in red, white and blue, and a wooden dowel or branch,

This DIY patriotic decor project by Jenny Reimold allows you to unleash your creativity while adding a touch of whimsy to your July 4th or Memorial Day celebrations. Hang your flag on a porch, fence or tree to instantly elevate your soiree and create an Instagram worthy space for photo opps.
