State parks often offer larger natural landscapes, hiking trails, lakes, and scenic overlooks. Depending on the location, you may find picnic shelters, pavilions, or event spaces available for weddings and receptions.
Permits and reservations for NYS parks differ from Monroe County Parks, so it’s important to review each park’s policies carefully before booking.
Town Parks
Many Rochester-area towns also maintain beautiful parks with pavilions and community lodges available for residents—and sometimes non-residents.
These venues are often overlooked, which is actually great news if you’re trying to avoid competing with everyone else for the same Saturday in October. It’s worth checking your local parks department to see what facilities are available and whether resident discounts apply.

The newer lodge provides plenty of space for dinner and dancing, while the surrounding trees create an incredible backdrop for ceremonies and portraits—especially during peak autumn color.
My cousin’s park wedding at The Grand View Lodge is what convinced me just how incredible park weddings can be. Highland Park | Olmsted Lodge
Few places are more iconic in Rochester than Highland Park during lilac season. If you’re hoping for a garden-inspired wedding without leaving the city, this is one of the first places I’d recommend touring.
The Olmsted Lodge pairs beautifully with the surrounding gardens and mature trees, making it an especially popular choice for spring weddings. Even outside of lilac season, Highland Park offers beautiful landscaping, rolling hills, and timeless photo opportunities that make it one of Rochester’s most recognizable wedding locations.

If you’re dreaming of waterfront portraits and dramatic sunsets, Webster Park is an excellent choice.
Couples can choose between the newer Lakefront Lodge or the more rustic White House Lodge depending on the style they’re envisioning. Both offer beautiful access to Lake Ontario while still being convenient for guests traveling from Rochester.

Ontario Beach Park | Roger Robach Community Center
If you’ve always imagined getting married near the water without leaving Rochester, Ontario Beach Park is worth exploring.
The Roger Robach Community Center sits just steps from Charlotte Beach and provides plenty of indoor, airconditioned space for larger weddings, while still giving couples easy access to beach portraits, lake views, and one of Rochester’s most recognizable waterfront locations. And yes… celebrating with Abbott’s Frozen Custard afterward is highly encouraged.
I helped with day-of-coordination for this Roger Robach Community Center wedding, and it was a beautiful example of how a blank space can be transformed into a gorgeous beach front park wedding.
Abraham Lincoln Park | Waterfront Lodge
Overlooking Irondequoit Bay, Abraham Lincoln Park offers one of the most peaceful waterfront settings in the Rochester area.
The Abraham Lincoln Park Lodge provides a beautiful combination of indoor and outdoor spaces, making it an excellent choice for small to mid-sized weddings that want scenic views without feeling too remote. It’s one of those venues that feels tucked away, even though it’s only minutes from the city.
I absolutely adore this Abraham Lincoln Park Lodge wedding that Homemade Events planned. It was the perfect blend of boho, elegance, and relaxed park wedding vibes.
Greece Canal Park | Thomas X. Grasso Lodge
If you’re looking for a newer event space that still captures the relaxed feel of a park wedding, the Thomas X. Grasso Lodge at Greece Canal Park is definitely worth exploring.
The lodge itself feels more modern than many park venues in the area, while the surrounding park provides peaceful canal views and plenty of space for portraits. I attended my step sister’s baby shower here and was genuinely impressed by how beautiful the space was—it would translate wonderfully to a wedding.

Mendon Ponds Park | Cobblestone House
